During a seatbelt survey conducted by the Newark Police Department on May 15, more than 27 percent of students surveyed were not wearing seatbelts on their way out of the high school. It is important for students to wear seatbelts both for safety purposes and because it is the law in Ohio, and in every state except for New Hampshire.

The Newark High School Class of 2013 is quickly approaching its last day of school on May 30. Many students will head to college in the fall, whether in one, two, or four-year programs. Graduates will stick close to home to attend the Newark Campus of COTC and Ohio State, and some will travel as far away as Florida and Oklahoma for college. Find a map of where Wildcats have been accepted into college, and a word cloud representation of the most popular colleges among 2013 graduates, as reported to the NHS guidance office by students.
