As we were packing up for our big move to the old Roosevelt Middle School later this year, Administrative Service Center staff has come across a treasure trove of old photos dating as far back as the 1940s (including the 1947 state basketball championship team). Photos include various sports teams from Newark High School, Central Jr. High, Kennedy and more, as well as prom courts and plays. If you are interested in looking through the photos to see if you recognize any of them, stop by the ASC, 85 E. Main Street, between 8 and 4 p.m. Mon.-Thurs. (or 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays) to have a look. A photo gallery of some of the photos is here.

Legend Elementary is one of 163 schools statewide to be recognized as a School of Promise by the Ohio Department of Education based on its 2011-2012 report card. The award recognizes schools' efforts in "closing the gap" in achievement between student groups with varying backgrounds.
